Playing with fire ...

Wow, what a busy couple of weeks. My home life has mainly consisted of sleeping and DIY! The training has continued to go great guns though.
Paint Effects
This week I’ve started to explore Maya Paint Effects. It’s a surprisingly powerful system, especially when you consider that a lot of the brushes can be animated. The flexibility seems incredible, although that same flexibility makes it quite a deep tool to get your head around.

Photoshop 3D Techniques
I completed the Photoshop 3D techniques course last week, which I really enjoyed. I thought some of the texturing techniques might be a bit dry, but I actually found it very satisfying to be able to create believable textures with relatively little effort.

Advanced Rigging
I was feeling a little ‘rigged out’, due to a combination of the subject matter complexity and poor quality training material. So, I’m taking a break from the advanced rigging and will come back to it soon and wrap the course up.

Dynamics
Last week I began to get to grips with classic dynamics within Maya. It’s been a blast. Boom, boom! (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)

So it’s been a couple of weeks dominated by particle systems, rigid and soft bodies.
Projects/Showreel
Now that the back of the DIY has been broken I'm hoping to progress some of my showreel project ideas, one of which will be completely amazing if I can realise the concept.
